How can help Osteopathy relieve Sciatic Pain

Sciatic pain also known as Sciatica, is a combination of symptoms including pain that may be caused by general compression or irritation of one of five spinal nerve roots that give rise to each sciatic nerve, or by compression or irritation of sciatic nerves.

The discomfort or pain can be felt in the lower back, buttock, leg and foot. People can also experience pins and needles, numbness, muscle weakness along the leg. Usually symptoms occur on one side of the body. The term Sciatica is often misunderstood, it is a set of symptoms rather than a diagnosis for what is irritating the root of the nerve, causing pain.

Treatment for sciatica or sciatic symptoms often differs, depending upon the underlying cause of the symptoms and pain levels.   To help with these symptoms, our osteopaths will use different decompressing techniques, manipulation and soft tissue work in order to open up the restricted spaces and soften the muscular structures pressuring on the nerves. A few sessions and some technical advice will help you to get rid of the pain and discomfort along the leg.
